Kundalini : Terme qui signifie littéralement "celle qui est enroulée". Il désigne l'énergie du corps qui "dort" à la base de la colonne vertébrale en attendant d'être éveillé, souvent comparée à un serpent endormi. Une fois réveillée, elle remonte le long des chakras jusqu'au sommet du crâne où elle peut provoquer des changements spirituels tels que l'illumination et des changements physiques comme la capacité à contrôler certaines fonctions corporelles. C'est l'énergie de la réalisation du soi.

Kundalini : La Kundalinî est un concept lié au Yoga qui désigne une puissante énergie qui se trouverait logée dans l'os sacrum. Elle est représentée comme un serpent enroulé sur lui-même trois fois et demi. Par la pratique de la méditation, la Kundalinî s'éveillerait et monterait le long de la colonne vertébrale depuis l'os sacrum jusqu'à la fontanelle, progressant d'un des sept chakras à l'autre afin de les harmoniser un à un. La Kundalini est indifféremment désignée comme "énergie vitale", "énergie sexuelle" ou "énergie divine" selon les auteurs qui l'emploient et la tradition qui l'utilise. Le terme ancien, Kundalini Shakti, issu du tantrisme, est aujourd'hui employé fréquemment dans le courant New Age. On trouve ce concept dans quelques Upanishads mineures telle la Yoga Kundalini Upanishad. Le déploiement de la Kundalini conduirait à l'éveil spirituel du pratiquant et à la plus haute conscience de soi.
